Fluffy piroshki with your desired fillings... potatoes, feta cheese, spinach, sausage, deli meats, and more. They are easy, quick, affordable, and incredibly delicious. Kids love them, and for us adults, they are a lifesaver for our afternoon or evening meals, for the office, or as a snack for children at school. Our dough does not contain eggs or butter, allowing you to easily make potato or spinach fillings for fasting periods.
Our ingredients:
750g all-purpose flour (approximately)
460g warm water
1 packet dry yeast
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
½ tsp white vinegar
4 tbsp olive oil
In a bowl, mix the flour with salt, olive oil, and vinegar. In a glass, take 60g of warm water and mix in the yeast and sugar. Incorporate the yeast mixture into the flour and add an additional 400g of warm water. Mix well and form a dough. Set it aside to double in size. While waiting for the dough to rise, prepare the desired filling. Once the dough has doubled in size, divide it into 20-22 pieces. Shape them into small balls on a greased surface. Cover them again and let them rise. When they have risen, flatten them into discs and place the filling in the center. Pinch the edges together with both hands, forming a crescent shape. Gently pull the two ends, sticking them together. Stick the ends to the part where you closed the piroshki. Press lightly, creating a pillow shape. Continue in the same way with the remaining dough. In a frying pan, add enough vegetable oil. Fry the piroshki on medium to high heat on both sides. Once they are done, place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Good luck with your piroshki!
