It brings back memories of carefree summer afternoons, running around with friends, and enjoying these delicious treats. It evokes wistful winter evenings spent on the couch, in front of the television, eagerly waiting for the children's program to start... that moment when you want something to munch on... and there they are, ready and warm, fluffy and incredibly tasty! Our beloved fried egg slices!

Ingredients:

  • ½ loaf of fresh bread
  • 400 grams of milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional: cheese and ham for serving

Directions

  1. In a bowl, combine the milk, eggs, salt, and pepper. Whisk until the ingredients are well blended.
  2. Cut the bread into slices approximately 2 cm thick and place them in a baking dish. Pour the milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for 2-3 minutes until the bread absorbs the milk. Then flip the bread slices over.
  3. In a frying pan, heat a small amount of vegetable oil and butter. Start frying 2-3 slices of bread at a time in the pan. Flip them over and remove them from the pan when they have a light golden color. Place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  4. Serve the fried egg slices with cheese and ham, or enjoy them plain!
