Delicious and fragrant Flora tart, a delightful sweet treat with crispy biscuit crust, perfect for enjoying with coffee, for gifting, for kids, and with my own suggestion of aromatic citrus marmalade!
This dough doesn't contain eggs or any animal products, so it can easily be made during fasting periods and enjoyed by vegetarians and vegans. You can use any type of marmalade you prefer.
Our ingredients for the dough:
200g plant-based butter at room temperature*
70g powdered sugar
300g all-purpose flour
A dash of vanilla extract
Mix the butter with the powdered sugar and vanilla until the butter absorbs the sugar. Add the flour and knead until you have a soft dough. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about 1cm thickness and spread it in our baking pan (The given quantity is enough for a 28cm baking pan and to create designs on top) Use your fingers to press the dough around the sides of the tart pan.
Spread the marmalade over the entire surface of the tart. With the leftover dough, roll it out and create strips or braids, then place them in a crisscross pattern on top of the marmalade. If desired, add some nuts that complement the marmalade and add extra flavor. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes, or until the tart turns golden brown.
Good luck!
*Plant-based butter is suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets. Traditional butter, which is made from animal products like milk, is replaced with plant-based alternatives in vegan and vegetarian cuisine. These alternatives are typically made from vegetable oils such as coconut, soy, almond oil, or walnut oil. They offer a healthy and vitamin-rich choice for vegans and vegetarians, providing a similar texture and taste to traditional butter.
