Quince Spoon Sweet

Product

Recipe-Ingrediants

A classic, grandma-style quince spoon sweet...something we all remember! Who can forget the generous serving of this sweet treat at home, accompanied by a necessary liqueur, or the ice cream topped with quince spoon sweet! (At least I remember them very well...)
So, let's see how to make this traditional dessert.

Our Ingredients:
1 kilogram of quince, cleaned and cut into thin strips
750 grams of water
½ kilogram of sugar
150 grams of toasted almonds
2 leaves of mastiha (mastic)
1 teaspoon of glucose

Directions

We cut the quince into thin strips and put it in a pot along with the sugar and water. We simmer for about 40 minutes, skimming off any foam that forms. Gradually, our syrup thickens. Just before the final boiling, we add the mastiha leaves and glucose. Shortly before removing it from the heat, we remove the mastiha leaves and add the almonds. We place the sweet in sterilized jars using the boiling method.
Note:
•    If you cannot find mastiha leaves, you can omit them or replace them with a pinch of ground mastiha.
•    The syrup consistency can vary, so adjust the cooking time accordingly to achieve your desired thickness.
Enjoy your quince spoon sweet!
