Our Ingredients:

1 packet of phyllo dough

200g ground walnuts

100g crushed almonds

50g crushed Aegina pistachios

100g sesame seeds

300g melted unsalted butter

1 tsp cinnamon

? tsp clovesFor the syrup:

400g granulated sugar

250g water

1 cinnamon stick

6 cloves

½ cup lemon juice

Directions

In a saucepan, bring the syrup ingredients to a boil and let it simmer for about 5-6 minutes. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F) on the air setting. In a bowl, combine the ground walnuts, crushed almonds, crushed pistachios, cloves, cinnamon, and sesame seeds. Mix them well with a spoon. Lay out the phyllo dough on your work surface. Take one sheet of phyllo and generously brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle a portion of the filling evenly over the phyllo sheet. Using a thin wooden stick or a thick sewing needle, roll up the phyllo tightly. Then, shape it into a spiral and carefully remove the stick or needle. Transfer the rolled saragli to a buttered baking dish. Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets. Pour any leftover melted butter over the arranged saragli in the baking dish to prevent them from drying out. Cut the rolls into desired sizes and place them in the oven for approximately 1.5 hours (or until golden brown, depending on your oven). Once the saragli is ready, while it's still hot, pour the cooled syrup over it. Let the syrup soak into the saragli for about half an hour. Finally, sprinkle finely ground walnuts on top.

Enjoy your homemade saragli!
